TRIAL AND ERROR - CHAPTER 3

I think I had made you wait for a long time. First of all, I apologize for that... Life is always known for its twists and turns and my life is no exception. This time I'm back with a not so interesting chapter... Chalo... No more talks... I will start...

Recap: Daya is serving life sentence in jail as he got accused for Abhijeet's murder. ACP Pradyuman has been given the order to carry out an encounter on Daya. During the encounter, ACP Pradyuman receives a call, and the jeep gets blasted. In the hospital where ACP Pradyuman is admitted, an anonymous person leaves a note, which Purvi finds at the reception.

CITY HOSPITAL

ICU Night 8:30 PM

Dr. Salunkhe entered the room, where he could feel a complete silence and even small noises, were louder to him. Be it the beeps from the medical equipments around the bed, or the breath of his friend,
it was louder.

ACP Pradyuman was struggling to open his eyes slowly. He could feel intense pain because of those injuries, and pain in his heart was even more high, because of the attempt he made to kill his beloved Daya.

Salunkhe sat near the bed and he could feel his friend's struggle. His eyes were filled with tears, which were not ready to fell down.

ACP Pradyuman opened his eyes, and with a mild smile, he asked, "How are you?"

Salunkhe replied with an angry tone, "I must ask the question. Why did you agree to carry out the encounter? You're our only hope and I couldn't see you like this. I know the plight of our profession, but I don't think whatever is happening now, is fair.

Pradyuman replied with a smile, "Salunkhe, God has given me another chance. I am regretting for not investigating Abhijeet's murder at my own risk. You never know what I had been experiencing. I met those eyes filled with guilt, and I could see courage in the same eyes, when I had lifted the gun. Daya cannot kill Abhijeet.

Salunkhe nodded his head and said, "I don't know what's the truth. But I don't think you can work for three months. See what's there in this letter." He tore the envelope and gave it to Pradyuman.

Pradyuman took the letter and got astonished for a second. Because the letter was not the one he had expected.

PANKAJ'S HOME

Pankaj had reached home to take rest for sometime so that he could return to hospital earlier. He could hear his television loudly right from the entrance of his house. His mom kept surfing channels in the television. Suddenly her eyes got stuck on one particular news channel.

Pankaj came inside with frustration, but he got shocked to see the news scrolling below the screen.

CID's ACP Pradyuman's house under raid.

He couldn't understand anything for sometime. He immediately picked up his mobile and called Purvi.

CITY HOSPITAL

Purvi was waiting outside the room anxiously to inform Dr. Salunkhe about the mysterious note. Suddenly her mobile vibrated for a moment and she picked up the mobile. Her eyes widened to see Pankaj's name on her mobile screen.

Purvi attended the call and said "Hello" in a rushing voice. Pankaj on the other side spoke anxiously, "Purvi, something's going wrong. Check out the news immediately." Purvi replied, "One minute" and she opened the news app in the tablet and got shocked to see the news. She replied, "What's this, Pankaj?" for which Pankaj said, "Even I couldn't understand anything. I will reach the hospital as soon as possible" and hanged up the call.

Freddy who came from the pharmacy, also got surprised to know about everything, as he too had watched everything in the television in the pharmacy. He walked with fast steps and bumped on to a man, and after a moment, he noticed something in his pocket. Immediately he rubbed his pocket and found a paper which was a letter.  The letter had this note...

WALLS MAY HAVE EYES
HANDS MAY HAVE MIRRORS
LIGHT CAN BE DANGEROUS
SILENCE HAS THE POWER

Pankaj tried to call his friend Kamal, who was a journalist in the news channel. Kamal who was waiting for the press meet from the raid officers, got Pankaj's call and Pankaj asked, "Kamal, what's going on there? Everything is happening without our knowledge. I couldn't understand anything."

Kamal said, "Pankaj, I will let you know everything soon. I will definitely inform you if I get any important information." Pankaj hanged up the call and exclaimed with frustration, "Damn it."

Freddy after reading the note, got confused for a minute and kept the note safely with him. He decided to get information from his informer, but since his mobile had low balance, he reached out to a PCO and called his informer.

Informer had said that, a body was recovered from a deserted place and it had happened to be a police officer whose name was Mukesh. The name Mukesh was something familiar to Freddy.
